ABOUT ME
I am a fat Yoga Teacher.
I started practising yoga almost 20 years ago.
Through this, I learned a deep appreciation for my body.
I gained confidence in myself and my abilities.
These qualities became indispensable at a time when I felt my body had failed me,
after I sustained several injuries from a car accident.
As part of my rehabilitation, I was introduced to Aqua Yoga,
a gentle practice that was vital to my recovery.
The body awareness I developed and the mindfulness I achieved through yoga
have also been especially healing for me.
It has since been my goal to create safe spaces
that are accepting of all bodies, abilities, genders, and identities,
wherein I share my Aqua and Studio Yoga practice in a light-hearted, fun, approachable manner.
I offer body positive, accessible, joyful movement
Aqua, Studio, and Outdoor Yoga classes,
taught through a trauma-informed lens.
My classes are strictly anti-diet spaces.
I enjoy working with folks in larger bodies,
Veterans, Military Members, and their loved ones,
folks who have experienced trauma, including survivors of Military Sexual Trauma,
and/or live with Post-Traumatic Stress/Disorder/Injury.
I am a Certified Aqua Yoga Instructor, a Registered Yoga Teacher (CYA-RYT 250 & RYT-200),
a Certified Accessible Yoga Teacher, an iRest® Yoga Nidra Level 1 Yoga Teacher,
and a Warriors at Ease Level 1, Veterans Yoga Project, and Yogafit for Warriors® Yoga Teacher.
I am also very proud to be a Certified Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher
through Transforming Sexual Trauma Through Yoga.
Additionally, for the last three years I have been teaching
Yoga with Adoptable Puppies at Pet-A-Palooza.
As this is a family event, I chose to further my education
with a 30 Hour Children's Yoga Teacher Training.
I am currently pursuing my 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
to become a CYA-RYT 500 & RYT-500.
It is my hope you will join me.
Come explore a different way to yoga.
Wishing you wellness and all good things,
Sonia
